Discovery Days explore the rainforest

Here is a preview of what we can make in Discovery Days next week

Wednesday, April 6, is a Late Start Day for SVVSD, so as usual we invite parents and caretakers to bring their toddlers and their elementary school-aged children with them to Discovery Days!

What Can You Expect at Discovery Days?
Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays
9–10:15 am, 10:30–11:45 am, 12:30–1:45 pm

Each week, Ms. Leigh prepares a variety of themed arts and crafts activities for you and your child to explore materials and creation techniques.

Next week of April 6, 7, & 8 we will:

  • Increase hand eye coordination by placing glue in specific places for sequins
  • Practice pencil grip by drawing lines with markers and painting
  • Work on handskills by manipulating paper to twist them into shapes
  • Enhance cutting skills by cutting a a variety of shapes and textures
  • Practice spatial reasoning by creating 3D landscape picture
  • Learn handskills such as tearing paper

Sensory experiences you may encounter:

  • Sticky glue on fingers
  • Sticky tape on fingers
  • Wet paint on hands
  • Tiny smooth sequins
  • Fluttery tissue paper
  • Wearing an apron or paint shirt to keep clean while painting
  • And as always, you can expect variety of noises and voices in the classroom: some joyful, some loud, some quiet, and some just learning how to navigate this world.
