We are excited for Discovery Days to continue to serve as a place of growth, kindness, and happiness!

During all of our sessions for Bugs, Bugs, Bugs! week, we will have some guests from Kid Connects in the Neighborhood who will be helping out with an activity and informing families about their services and how they may be able to offer help and resources to families.

Here is a small introduction to the organization, and they will tell us more during our classtime!

Introducing Kid Connects In the Neighborhood
A New Program Hosted by Mental Health Partners

Mental Health Partners (MHP) recognizes not all children attend a licensed childcare or daycare provider. Many children are being lovingly cared for by family friends, neighbors, or family members.

Kid Connects in the Neighborhood is here to support these children and their care providers by offering resources, screenings, referrals, and more!

Our theme next week (April 27, 28, & 29) will be Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!

Here is a preview of what we can make in Discovery Days next week!

What Can You Expect at Discovery Days?
Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays
9–10:15 am, 10:30–11:45 am, 12:30–1:45 pm

Each week, Ms. Leigh prepares a variety of themed arts and crafts activities for you and your child to explore materials and creation techniques.

Next week of April 27, 28, & 29 we will:

  • Increase hand eye coordination by placing glue in specific places and pinching and placing small paper dots
  • Practice pencil grip by drawing lines with markers and painting
  • Work on handskills by manipulating pipe cleaners into grasshopper legs
  • Enhance cutting skills by cutting round shaped wings, and other shapes

Sensory experiences you may encounter:

  • Sticky glue on fingers
  • Sticky tape on fingers
  • Wet paint on hands
  • Soft pipe cleaners
  • Fluttery tissue paper
  • Wearing an apron or paint shirt to keep clean while painting
  • And as always, you can expect variety of noises and voices in the classroom: some joyful, some loud, some quiet, and some just learning how to navigate this world.

See you at the Museum!

Recyclable Donation Requests

Specifically we are looking for donations of:

  • Clear plastic 2-Liter bottles with lids (plastic thin enough to cut with scissors)

And as always, we are accepting: toilet paper tubes, paper towel tubes, and especially plastic grocery bags.

Thank you!
