GOLDEN — Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera joined Congressman Ed Perlmutter and Mayor of Golden, Laura Weinberg, to deliver remarks Tuesday morning at the kick-off event celebrating the launch of the Mines Rover, an electric, autonomous shuttle service based on the Colorado School of Mines campus.
“Fighting climate change and embracing renewable energy has been a priority for the Polis-Primavera administration since day one,” said Lt. Governor Primavera. “Clean energy and electrification isn’t just the future, it’s our present, and it’s going to be essential in a stronger, faster economic recovery, as well as a more sustainable transportation system. It is great to see public and private partners come together to drive innovative initiatives like the Mines Rover.”
The Mines Rover is part of the largest fleet of autonomous, electric shuttles in the United States, and is the first of three planned autonomous shuttle services that will serve Golden, Greenwood Village and Colorado Springs.
In 2020, the Polis-Primavera administration released the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Roadmap, which lays the groundwork for Colorado to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2040, including tackling transportation emissions - one of the highest emitting sectors - by getting 1 million electric vehicles on the road in Colorado by 2030.
