NEWS RELEASE
GOVERNOR JARED POLIS
*************************
Yesterday the Capital Development Committee unanimously approved a land swap which will allow for a Global Energy Park located west of Denver between Lakewood and Golden in Jefferson County. The “Glo Park” will bring industry, government, and academia together to power the move towards clean, renewable, sustainable, and equitable energy solutions while creating workforce opportunities and working with students of all ages.

Governor Polis has taken bold steps to cement Colorado’s status as a leader in renewable energy.

“Colorado is the heart of renewable energy and this is a strong opportunity for our state and Jefferson County to be leaders in the future of energy while creating a jobs pipeline and I thank the members of the committee for their unanimously bold action today,” said Governor Polis.

To develop the business park, the state, US Department of Energy, and Jefferson County are working toward final approval of a land swap to make the appropriate parcels available for building the Glo Park campus. To finalize the project the state has conducted significant community and stakeholder engagement, and the project is supported by a broad group of community leaders and organizations.

By creating collaboration between the public and private sector, researchers, and governments, the Global Energy Park will be key to Colorado’s renewable energy success.

The project requires the approval of the Jefferson County Commissioners.
