Governor Jared Polis announced that Tyler Jaeckel, managing director of economic recovery, will assume the role of chief economic recovery officer, effective Aug.16.
In this role, Jaeckel will manage the staff, oversight, and compliance for Colorado’s American Rescue Plan Act, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and Inflation Reduction Act.
“Tyler has been a part of the process of stewarding our Federal stimulus funds since the very beginning,” said Polis. “In both his roles as chief of staff at the office of state planning and budgeting and managing director of economic recovery, he has ensured that these dollars are spent responsibly and with intent and we look forward to the important work ahead.”
Before joining the governor's office as chief of staff for the office of state planning and budgeting, Jaeckel was the director of policy and research for the Bell Policy Center. He also served as program director at the Harvard Kennedy School Government Performance Lab and was a Government Innovations Fellow for the city and county of Denver, as well as an Ash Center Government Innovations Fellow for the White House. Jaeckel also held several roles as a policy analyst and advisor in New York City.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University from which he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, a JD from New York University where he was a Root-Tilden-Kern Scholar, and a Master’s of Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where he was a Taubman Scholar for state and local government.
Pat Meyers departs the role after standing up the office of Economic Recovery to administer the transformational federal stimulus funds awarded to Colorado. Meyers also served concurrently as the executive director of the Office of Economic Development and International Trade until January 2023.
Pat’s previous service to the state includes acting as the constrained medical supply team leader for the state of Colorado’s COVID Innovation Response Team, for which he was awarded the 2021 Colorado Governor’s Citizenship Award. He served as the chief of staff to Colorado’s governor John Hickenlooper from December 2017 through the end of the governor’s term.
“I want to thank Pat for his exceptional service to the state. He joined the administration during some of Colorado’s toughest days and brought his wisdom, positivity, and energy to extraordinary challenges. Pat, you have been good to us and we wish you the best in your next adventures,” said Polis.
