Today, Wednesday June 2nd, U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper and Small Business Administration head Isabella Guzman will visit several small businesses to announce that 1,587 Colorado restaurants, bars, breweries, and food trucks have, to date, received more than $309 million in new federal relief to help them get through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The grant awards are part of the Restaurant Revitalization Fund, which launched May 3rd. Hickenlooper, a former brewpub owner, helped secure the program and its funding as part of the American Rescue Plan, which Congress passed in March.

Restaurants can use this critical funding to cover a range of expenses including payroll, rent, construction, utilities,  maintenance, and more. Grants are more flexible than PPP loans and do not need to be repaid.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) is continuing to review applications and additional restaurants will receive funding in the coming weeks. Restaurants have until March 11, 2023 to use the funds.

Hickenlooper and Guzman will make three stops along the Front Range, the Administrator's first visits to small businesses outside of the D.C. region since assuming her post.
