On Monday, a Sunshine Fire Protection District rescuer initially hiked the Mount Sanitas Trail to locate and assist an injured female hiker, when along the way the rescuer discovered an injured male climber.

The man, who was bouldering in the area, fell approximately ten feet onto his crash pad, which resulted in a rolled ankle injury.

The injured man was assisted down the trail by a City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Ranger, and he refused medical treatment before he made the decision to leave on his own recognizant.

Rescue units would continue up the trail and were able to locate the injured female hiker.

The woman sustained her injury when she was climbing on rocks to the trail and fell approximately one foot, which resulted in a right ankle injury.

Rescuers stabilized the woman, placed her on a litter, and moved her from the Mount Sanitas Trail to the Sanitas Valley Trail.

Also refusing medical treatment, the woman was transported to her vehicle. She would opt to seek her own medical treatment.

In total, the rescue took approximately one hour.
