1st Ave. and Main St. Railroad Repairs
Scheduled: June 14 – 25, 2021
24 hours/day
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and BNSF Railway have scheduled to remove/replace the 1st Ave. and Main St. railroad intersection. Work will include: replacing the railroad ballast, ties, rails and the concrete surface crossing panels plus removing and replacing the concrete pavement along each side of the crossing along with the curb, gutter, and sidewalk sections. This will require Main St. to be CLOSED between 1st and 2nd Ave. We will post more details as we receive them. View the City of Longmonts full Press Release.
MAIN ST. CLOSURES / IMPACTS
- MAIN ST. between 1st and 2nd Ave. will be CLOSED
- Access to the 100 block Main St. businesses/residents will be available from side streets (Coffman St., Emery St., 2nd Ave.)
- MAIN ST. between 2nd and 3rd Ave. will be OPEN for LOCAL ACCESS ONLY
- Southbound Main St. traffic can access by using the right-hand travel lane
- 2nd and 3rd Avenue cross traffic will be allowed to turn onto this block of Main St.
- Street and lot parking on this block will be OPEN
- Alleys will be OPEN for deliveries
- MAIN ST. between 1st and Boston Ave. will be OPEN for LOCAL ACCESS ONLY
- Northbound Main St. traffic can access Main St. businesses in this section AND 1st Ave. businesses by using the right-hand travel lane
- MAIN ST. DETOURS: Through traffic will be detoured from Main St. to Martin St. and S. Pratt Parkway from multiple locations for north and southbound traffic (see map below)
- CROSS STREETS OPEN: The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Ave. cross streets at Main St. will be open for traffic to cross

1st Ave. Traffic Direction Change
Scheduled: June 10 - 25, 2021

As part of the ongoing 1st & Emery Railroad Intersection project, the traffic flow on 1st Ave. between Main St. and Martin St. will be temporarily changed to ONE-WAY, EASTBOUND TRAVEL ONLY JUNE 9 - 25. Jean and Dan from 300 Suns Brewing, located on 1st Ave., created a MAP of how to get to 1st Ave. during this one-way setup, which is happening concurrently with the 1st & Main railroad work. Take the long way around to help support our east side 1st Ave. businesses during this time. Additional signage will be installed on 3rd Ave., Martin St. and Boston Ave. to direct traffic on how to get to 1st Ave.
Parklet Deliveries
Parklets will start being delivered to Downtown Main St. over the next 2-4 weeks. Some lane closures will be in place in order to make the deliveries. Barricades (filled with water) will be installed next to the parklets to protect them from the traffic lane. Below are the primary parklet locations. Longer sections will be on the 500 E and 400 NW blocks. The rest are typically in a few parking spaces.
