NEWS RELEASE
BOULDER COUNTY
*************************

As we near the one-year anniversary of the Marshall Fire, it is important to recognize your emotional needs and take care of yourself. Researchers have found that it can take 24 to 60 months for a community to move through the phases of disaster response. The healing journey is a unique experience and one that each person processes differently.

There are many resources available to all members of the community to address your emotional recovery. These include:

  • Counselors on-site – Mental Health Partners and Jewish Family Service will have tables in Louisville and Superior at various times in October and November. Counselors will be on-hand to talk with people about any issues they are dealing with or mental health concerns they may have and provide resources for referrals. Starting Oct. 4 through Nov. 29, counselors will be available at:
    • Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Road) every Tuesday (9:30 to 11:30 a.m.)
    • Louisville Recreation & Senior Center (900 Via Appia) every Tuesday (3 to 6 p.m.), Wednesdays (8 to 11 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.), and Thursdays (8 to 11 a.m.)
    • Louisville Public Library (951 Spruce St.) every Thursday (2 to 5 p.m.) and during Storytime (view the schedule).
  • Crisis cards – Mental Health Partners and Jewish Family Service will provide crisis cards to all businesses in Louisville and Superior, and library service desks in Louisville, Broomfield, Boulder and Lafayette for distribution among the community. Crisis cards provide 24/7 phone, text, in-person and online access to mental health support.
  • Art therapy – The Art Therapy Program offered through Superior’s CAPS Committee and Chamber continues through the end of December. Visit superiorchamber.com/art-therapy-program-marshall-fire/ for more details. This is available to all impacted individuals.
  • Upcoming events – Louisville, Superior, Boulder County, partner agencies and local organizations are partnering to provide a variety of opportunities for community members to gather, heal and remember. More details will be shared as they are available.
    • Restorative Yoga at the Louisville Recreation and Senior Center on Dec. 8 (6 to 6:45 p.m. and family friendly ages 14+ at 7 to 8 p.m.). Hybrid class options will be available.
    • Save the date for Marshall Fire Solidarity Breakfast on Dec. 30 from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Superior Community Center (1500 Coalton Road).

Emotional well-being is a concern for all community members, including our youngest ones.
