Mountain Biker crash on Picture Rock Trail in Boulder County

On Wednesday May 18, 2022 at approximately 6:58 PM., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a male mountain biker with a possible broken ankle.

A Boulder County Open Space Ranger and Lyons Fire arrived first and hiked to the patient, who was approximately 1.5 miles from the trail head. Members of Rocky Mountain Rescue Group also responded. Rescuers stabilized the injured mountain biker and then using a litter with a wheel, they transported him to an awaiting Ambulance. The 60-year-old male from Lyons Colorado was then transported by American Medical Response (AMR) to an area hospital for treatment. The rescue took approximately one hour.

Agencies assisting with this rescue included: Boulder County Open Space Rangers, American Medical Response, Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and Lyons Fire Department.
