LONGMONT, Colo. – Re-find Your Mind, an interactive mental health discussion, will take place via Zoom on Thursday, June 17 at 6:15 p.m. Organized by Supporting Action for Mental Health (SAM) and the Longmont Public Library, in association with the Longmont Youth Council and Longmont Children, Youth and Families, the evening will feature bilingual presentations by a diverse selection of special guests.

Speakers will share a wide range of experiences around mental health challenges that have impacted their lives and the lives of those near them. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and interact with guests in the interest of promoting mental health and effecting positive change.

“For years SAM has trained people in Mental Health First Aid to be equipped to respond when a loved one, neighbor, or stranger is dealing with depression, anxiety, or other mental health struggles,” said Kathy Partridge, SAM Partnership member.

“They also created SAMLA, Sustaining Action for Mental Health Latinx Action, to help raise awareness and inspire open conversations on mental health in the Latinx Community. As part of their work during the pandemic, SAM and SAMLA have been collecting stories of people involved in their programs. Guests of the Re-Find Your Mind event, including Jazmin Arritola and Doug Ward, will share some of these inspiring bilingual stories.”

The Longmont Library is supporting this gathering by providing additional community resources, including book recommendations on mental health challenges specific to youths and adults.

“Especially in the time of COVID, we can all benefit from sharing our stories and learning how to better support ourselves and our loved ones,” said Christina Pacheco, Children, Youth and Families Manager. “I welcome everyone to join us.”
