WASHINGTON – Today, Ranking Member Ken Buck (R-Colo.) and Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas) announced the formation of the Freedom from Big Tech Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The Freedom from Big Tech Caucus’ founding members include Ranking Member Buck and Rep. Gooden, who serve as co-chair of the caucus, Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.), who will serve as vice-chair of the caucus, as well as Rep. Burgess Owens (R-Utah), and Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.).
Big Tech companies rig the free market, crush competitors, stifle innovation, cozy up to China, and censor Americans. Big Tech companies operate under an “America last” mindset that has negatively affected consumers and small businesses across the country while benefiting China and entrenching their gatekeeper power.
The Freedom from Big Tech Caucus will unite Republicans in Congress to rein in Big Tech. Through legislation, education, and awareness, the Freedom from Big Tech Caucus will:
- Restore the free and dynamic digital economy
- Promote competition and innovation
- Protect children from harmful content online
- Support small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs
- Protect privacy and data rights
- End political censorship
- Counter Big Tech’s courtship of the Chinese Communist Party
“I am excited to lead the Freedom from Big Tech Caucus with my colleagues, Lance Gooden, Burgess Owens, Madison Cawthorn, and Paul Gosar,” said Rep. Buck. “Big Tech has abused its market power for decades, and Congress must act to hold these companies accountable and preserve the free market, promote competition and innovation, protect the freedom of speech, and foster a thriving digital economy.”
“Big Tech has complete control of the digital public square, ensuring that Americans only see news and information that fits their narrative, which often excludes conservative viewpoints,” said. Rep. Gooden. “Regulators have been asleep at the wheel while Big Tech has fleeced the American public of our personal data and our freedom of speech with their monopolistic behavior. It’s time we rein in Big Tech, and I’m proud to lead the fight in Washington with Reps. Buck, Owens, Cawthorn, and Gosar.”

“The country is facing a crisis because of Big Tech monopolies, Big Tech censorship, and Big Tech open borders practices at the expense of our STEM workers. I look forward to working in this caucus to get solutions to this crisis,” said Rep. Gosar.
