Second chance for out-of-luck bonded equine pair

The Good Life Refuge farm animal sanctuary has added a newly rescued bonded equine pair - Moose the mule and Dinka the donkey.

After having been rescued together nearly 10 years ago by their previous owner, the owner found himself facing an impossible decision as he was about to lose his property due to divorce and all horse rescues and other sanctuaries were at capacity. The owner felt he had little to no choice left and, in his desperation, he was planning to shoot Moose and Dinka and asked the Wolf Sanctuary here in Colorado if they had use for their meat. However, fate had other plans for this bonded pair.

The Executive Director of the Good Life Refuge, Nicole Brecht said, “It is tragic that Moose and Dinka are again in need of rescue, but we are glad that the right people were there for them at the right time and that we are able to provide them with a second chance.”

Brecht continued saying, “This rescue has been a wonderful team effort between us and the Wolf Sanctuary who informed us about the dire situation of these two animals, and Reborn Animal Refuge who was willing to facilitate the quarantine period for Moose and Dinka for us. We are blessed with such a wonderful rescue community.”

The public is invited to meet the newest arrivals, Moose and Dinka, along with the other 65 rescued animals at Good Life Refuge during their Sanctuary Open House this month on Saturday February 26th from 2pm to 4pm.
