NEWS RELEASE
COLORADO SECRETARY OF STATE
*************************
DENVER - In preparation for the Nov. 3 General Election, the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office, in conjunction with the state’s Office of Emergency Management, has facilitated the delivery of personal protective equipment to county clerks throughout the state that can be used by voter service and polling center personnel. The PPE includes masks, face shields, hand sanitizers, sanitizing wipes, and thermometers.

“The safety of voters and elections personnel is a paramount concern for all of us at the Secretary of State’s Office,” said Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold.  “I’m glad that our office is able to help provide counties with this essential equipment to ensure the General Election is conducted as safely as possible.”

Masks will be required for all voter service and polling center staff and election judges. Voters are encouraged to wear masks. Counties also are encouraged to provide disposable pens as well as gloves for elections personnel to further ensure their safety.

All additional equipment related to COVID-19 mitigation that county clerks purchase will be reimbursed by the Secretary of State’s Office, through CARES Act federal funding.

Voters are encouraged to use a mail ballot if they are able. Ballots are currently being mailed to every active registered voter by Colorado’s county clerks.
