The Substance Use Advisory Group (SUAG) from Boulder County Community Services is hosting their annual Overdose Awareness Day event! Dedicated to the world’s annual campaign to end overdose, this event memorializes, without stigma, those who have passed, and acknowledges the grief of the family and friends left behind. This year, SUAG is collaborating with the Boulder County Hometown Creek Festival for the weekend event on Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21, 2022. SUAG’s booth will be open from 10 AM – 5 PM on both days.

  • WHAT: SUAG Overdose Awareness Day
  • WHEN: Saturday, August 20-21, 2022
  • TIME: 10 AM – 5 PM
  • WHERE: Boulder Creek Hometown Festival at 1212 Canyon Blvd., BOOTH #9 (by the bandshell at Broadway St. and Canyon Blvd)

The event will include a remembrance table with candles to ‘light’ to signify those that have passed from overdose in our community, as well as a space for those to share their experiences and memorialize loved ones. Additionally, SUAG’s booth will have free Naloxone kits for distribution, as well as administration training provided by the harm reduction team at Boulder County Public Health’s Works Program.

Materials provided at the booth include information on the recent Fentanyl Accountability and Prevention law, SUAG resources including ways to get connected in our initiatives, and other services provided in Boulder County. The goal is to provide community members with the education and awareness they need to support others and keep themselves safe. Participants at the event will meet community partners dedicated to addressing and preventing overdoses in Boulder County.
