Social Venture Partners Boulder County (SVP) proudly announces the appointment of three new members to the Board of Directors.
“It is exciting for us to welcome this next group of Board members. All three have excellent experience serving community organizations and working to build strength and resilience in our youth and those in our community who are in most need of support,” says CEO Joshua Silberstein. “We are excited to learn and work beside them as Social Venture Partners continues our work to strengthen our Boulder County community.”
Maciel Leon joined the SVP Board in April 2022. She is the Community Action Programs Division Manager for Boulder County Community Services. Prior to joining Boulder County, Maciel served as a Law Enforcement Victim Services Coordinator and a first responder for twelve years for the Longmont Police Department and Boulder County Sherriff’s Department.
During her career in victim services, Maciel became a certified trainer and national crisis first responder for NOVA (National Organization for Victim Assistance). Maciel also has a background and years of experience in the field of Restorative Justice. She served as a facilitator for the Boulder County Sherriff’s Office Restorative Justice Program as well as a facilitator/trainer for the Longmont Community Justice Partnership (LCJP).
Eric Hansen joined the SVP Board in April 2022. He was raised in Boulder and has spent 30 years working in international business and entrepreneurship development. In 2002, Eric co-founded the non-profit Center for Entrepreneurship Inc., which worked in 22 Russian cities to help thousands of entrepreneurs succeed along their founder journey. He also co-founded the Russian Association of Entrepreneurship Education, where he served on the Board of Directors. In 2010, he helped form the G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance, a global network of entrepreneurship development organizations that champion the importance of young entrepreneurs to G20 member nations.
Eric currently assists entrepreneurship development nonprofits expand globally. He earned a BA in Central and Eastern European Affairs at CU Boulder, and an MBA in International Management at the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Eric returned to Colorado with his family in 2019.
Jorge Méndez joined the SVP Board in January 2022. He has been working with entrepreneurs in the social impact sector since 2014, when he launched a 12-week startup program for marginalized youth in Miami, FL. Since then, he has devoted his career to uplifting and training hundreds of entrepreneurs from across the country and world.
Currently, Jorge is the Senior Programs Manager at SEED SPOT. He moved to Colorado several years ago to serve as the Director of Programs at the Watson Institute, where he managed the Watson Semester Accelerator and supported a diverse cohort of emerging entrepreneurs. Jorge also served in the Launch Steering Committee for Social Venture Partners Miami, where his mentor served as the Founding Director.
