The public is invited to attend and there will be no masking or social distance requirements, per the updated State orders, although it is still recommended that unvaccinated folks wear a mask. Last Two Active Oil and Gas Wells in Longmont Scheduled to Close
Longmont staff members are working with local oil and gas operators to ensure the closure of the last two active oil and gas wells in Longmont. The Tabor #7 oil and gas well, which is located just south of the Innovation Center off Quail Road, began the plugging and abandonment process on June 23, 2021. The Stamp #31-2C well, which is located on the northwest side of Union Reservoir, is scheduled to begin plugging and abandonment work on Monday, June 28, 2021. In order to plug the wells, a workover rig will be present at the sites. This is a tall piece of equipment that will likely be visible to many residents from Union Reservoir and Quail Road. The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) will be supervising the plugging of both wells. Read the news release.

Skyline Kiwanis Fireworks Show
The Longmont Skyline Kiwanis is hosting a private event and fireworks show at the Fox Hill Country Club on the evening of July 4. This light display begins at 9:45 p.m. and will last about 15 minutes. Those residents with a sensitivity to fireworks, including pets, may want to be inside during that time. Residents will not be permitted on the golf course or to park in the Fox Hill neighborhood; but rather are advised to watch the show from public parking lots at Stephen Day Park, Clark Centennial, Sandstone Ranch and Union Reservoir (entrance fees apply at Union). For additional information, visit www.skylinekiwanis.org or email [email protected].

Feedback: Healthy Beverages for Children
City Council has asked for community input on an ordinance that would require restaurants to list healthy beverages as default choices in menus offering children’s meals. Restaurant owners and other community members are encouraged to visit Engage.LongmontColorado.gov and click on the “Healthy Beverages for Kids” project to learn more, ask questions, provide feedback, and tell their stories. After the survey closes on July 30, results will be compiled and presented to City Council prior to their review of the proposed ordinance.
