Feedback: Button Rock Code Update
As the Button Rock Preserve Management Plan process concludes, the City’s Natural Resources staff is recommending municipal code updates. Currently, the Button Rock Preserve municipal code (Section 13.20.060) does not address regulations including wildfire protection, closures, wildlife and resource protection, and other topics not found in the current code. Please share your thoughts in Survey 4: Code Language at Engage.LongmontColorado.gov/button-rock-preserve.

Owl Lecture at Sandstone Ranch
Do you know “whoooo” lives in our area and where you might find them? Join Recreation Services at 10:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Sandstone Ranch Visitors & Learning Center, 3001 Sandstone Drive, and learn what makes owls different from other birds and raptors, from their feathers and eyes to their talons and digestion. No live owls will be present. A suggested donation of $2/child, $4/adult is collected at the event. All ages welcome! To register, call 303-774-4700 or visit LongmontColorado.gov/SandstoneEvents.

Voices of Change: Japanese-Americans
Members of Longmont’s longstanding Japanese-American community will share their family histories and reflect on the 80th anniversary of Executive Order 9066 — which authorized the internment of anyone of Japanese ancestry from the West Coast — starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17. Co-presented with the Longmont Multicultural Action Committee. Come early to view the current special exhibition, “Washi Transformed: New Expressions in Japanese Paper.” Learn more and make free reservations at LongmontMuseum.org or by calling 303-651-8374.
