Library Building to Reopen to Public on Monday, July 19
The Longmont Public Library building will reopen for regular public access at 10 am on Monday, July 19, after being mostly closed to the public for 17 months due to COVID-19 restrictions and structural repairs. Upon reopening, the Library’s hours will continue with a slightly truncated schedule until Labor Day weekend. Library patrons returning to the building will be able to come inside to pick up their holds, check out materials, browse the entire collection, use public computers, receive in-person assistance, and shop at the Friends of the Longmont Library Lobby Book Shop.

Outdoor Fitness Classes in the Park
Enjoy a workout in the fresh air! Join Recreation fitness instructors for a Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday Pilyoga class at Roosevelt Park (times vary). Use your pass or pay a drop-in fee. Friday classes in July — including Zumba®, Pilyoga, and Boot Camp — are free and sponsored by Jennifer R Fanning, Farmers Insurance Group. All classes are for ages 14 and older; no childcare is available.  Registration is encouraged online at LongmontColorado.gov/rec or call 303-774-4700.

Be a Part of the Water-Saving Solution
In a semi-arid state like Colorado, it’s important to do our part, in conserving this important resource. A free sprinkler consultation with Resource Central could help you save up to 5,000 gallons of water per year! Their technicians will inspect your sprinkler system for issues, and provide a customized watering schedule to make sure you’re watering as efficiently as possible while keeping your grass healthy. Call 303-999-3824 or visit ResourceCentral.org/Sprinklers to sign up.

Free Concert: Antonio Lopez
Enjoy a free, in-person concert in the Longmont Museum’s grassy outdoor courtyard beginning at 6:30 pm on Thursday, July 15, featuring Antonio Lopez. His acoustic soul and modern folk sound garners comparison to artists such as Amos Lee and Paul Simon. A sixth-generation Coloradan, Antonio has released three albums independently and plays 200 shows a year. Limited seating; reservations recommended. Learn more at LongmontMuseum.org or call 303-651-8374.

Speak to City Council at Open Forum
The Longmont City Council will hold an Open Forum on Tuesday, July 20, in place of the regular City Council meeting. At this forum, members of the public may speak to Council for 5 minutes on any topic. The forum will begin at 7 pm in the City Council Chambers, located inside the Civic Center, 350 Kimbark St. If you would like to speak, plan to come early to put your name on the speakers list. Organize Now for National Night Out
The 2021 National Night Out crime-prevention event will be held from 6-9 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 3, in neighborhoods throughout Longmont. Many neighborhoods are hosting block parties and cookouts that include parades, flashlight walks and youth activities. National Night Out is a great way to build neighborhood unity, and stronger community ties make our neighborhoods safer. For more information and to register your neighborhood, visit LongmontColorado.gov and search “National Night Out” or call 303-774-4440.

High Ozone Levels and Air Quality
High ozone levels impact your health and ability to enjoy the outdoors. Help improve air quality by refueling in the evening when it’s cooler, not idling your car for long periods, and riding a bike or walking when you can. Get notified of high alert days with the Regional Air Quality Council: Text “BETTERAIRCO” to 21000 or sign up for email alerts at SimpleStepsBetterAir.org/signup-for-alerts.
