Reminder: Curbside compost changes

Please remember the changes that our compost processor, A1 Organics, has put in place to create clean compost free of contamination. As of April 1, only loose yard waste and food scraps will continue to be accepted in curbside composting containers. Items that are no longer being accepted in curbside composting service include pizza boxes, cardboard, yard waste bags, paper products, compostable packaging, coffee pods (k-cups etc.), coffee filters or other materials that are not explicitly food scraps or yard waste. If collection crews observe materials other than food scraps and yard wastes, your container will not be collected and they will leave a tag on the container with instructions to remove those items and will gladly come back to empty your container once those items have been removed. Thank you for your efforts and patience in adopting these updated guidelines. Call 303-651-8416 or the Waste Services webpage for more information.

Water line flushing schedule

Each spring, the City of Longmont water staff flushes the main water lines to keep water quality at its highest level and to ensure that fire hydrants are operational. The 2023 dates for the flushing program are scheduled for Monday, April 24 through Friday, May 19 (dates subject to change.) Residents may notice low water pressure, discolored water or no water for short periods of time when flushing is taking place in their neighborhood. All water is safe to use and to drink. Find out when your neighborhood will have its water lines flushed by visiting Water webpage or call 303-651-8416.
