Longmont Turkey Trot Fun Run
Gobble, gobble, gobble, GO! Join the fun starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, at Altona Middle School, 4600 Clover Basin Drive, for the Willy Wonka edition of the annual Longmont Turkey Trot. Walk or run a scenic two-mile or 10k course, including a wheelchair division. Register in person at any Recreation facility or online at rec.ci.longmont.co.us (keyword “turkey”) until noon on Thursday, Nov. 10. All race net proceeds benefit Recreation’s Youth Scholarship Fund. Holiday schedules for city facilities
Most City facilities will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11, in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. The Waste Diversion Center will be closed. The Longmont Museum and Recreation facilities will remain open. Find the most up-to-date schedules at longmontcolorado.gov/Holidays.

Children’s book week spirit week
Celebrate Children’s Book Week (Nov. 7 to 13) with the Longmont Library with a fun spirit week. Dress up and visit the library each day to earn stickers from the children’s and teens’ librarians to complete your card to win fun book prizes: today (11/7): Pajama day; Tuesday (11/8): Wear your favorite color day; Wednesday (11/9): Fun sock day; Thursday (11/10): Book character day. Make sure to turn in your cards to the children’s and teens’ librarians on Thursday, Nov. 10.
Songwriter showcase at Museum
Colorado is quickly becoming known nationally for its homegrown musical talent. Join Longmont’s own Bonnie and Taylor Sims for an intimate evening of original music from emerging and established singer-songwriters from across the Front Range and beyond at the Longmont Museum starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10. Celebrating Indigenous authors storytime
Join the Longmont librarians for an all ages storytime featuring picture books by Indigenous North American authors and illustrators from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Longmont Library. November is National Native American Heritage Month, and we want to amplify the voices of our Indigenous community members and celebrate their stories. Enter your float in the holiday parade
It’s time to plan your Longmont Lights parade float. Don’t miss the opportunity to showcase your business or organization in lights at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, during the annual holiday parade on Main Street. Read to therapy dogs at library
Join therapy dogs and their handlers for an afternoon of reading from 2 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, in the Longmont Library’s Meeting Rooms. This free program is designed for new readers and kids who want to practice their reading with a non-judgmental, furry audience a.k.a. a trained therapy dog. Each child reads at their own pace to one or more of our friendly dogs. No registration is necessary, but please check-in with the staff member. Bilingual storytime at Lanyon Park

Native American Documentary Film Series
In recognition of National Native American Heritage Month and in complement to the Longmont Museum’s “Tipi to Tiny House” exhibit, the Museum is presenting four documentary films over the course of three Sunday afternoons in November. The films will have a special focus on the Northern Arapaho of the Wind River Reservation, whose traditional territory includes what is now Longmont. Each film screening is free and will conclude with an audience question and answer. Films start at 3 p.m. on Sundays, Nov. 6, 13, and 20. Talking about race series at the library

November ballot information
This November, city council will be asking Longmont voters to approve the issuance of $20 million in storm drainage bonds to finance the next phase of the Resilient St. Vrain Project (RSVP). The RSVP is a multi-year project to fully restore the St. Vrain Greenway and improve the St. Vrain Creek channel to protect people, property and infrastructure from future flood risks. Additionally, voters will be asked to consider two changes to the charter and one city council at-large position. One charter amendment would provide operational clarity and streamlining, and the other would allow for simultaneous elections.
