All city facilities will be closed except the Longmont Recreation Center, the St. Vrain Memorial Building and Centennial Pool, which will be open regular COVID hours by reservation. The Longmont Museum will be open regular COVID hours. Wednesday and Thursday trash, recycling and composting will be collected a day later than usual.

City advisory board application deadline extended
Residents are invited to serve as official advisors to Longmont City Council on any of several boards or commissions. The committees serve as advisory groups helping city council learn about and make decisions on a wide variety of issues that affect the safety, economy and quality of life of Longmont residents and businesses. Applicants must be a registered voter of Longmont and reside inside city limits for at least one year prior to being appointed. The application deadline has been extended to 5 p.m. Nov. 20. For more information call the City Clerk’s Office at 303-651-8649.

Free landfill drop day
The city of Longmont offers residents an opportunity to take one level pickup load free of charge to the Front Range Landfill at 1830 Weld County Road 5 in Erie from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 14. Loads must be covered and secured for transport; oversize loads and second loads will be billed accordingly. Please take a photo ID and a copy of your current utility bill to show you are a city of Longmont customer. For more information visit LongmontColorado.gov/WasteServices or call 303-651-8416. Due to uncertainty related to COVID-19, please confirm before traveling to the landfill that this event is taking place as scheduled.

Join “Read for Your Health” book group
The library’s health-focused book group is returning in December with a new virtual format and “Heart: A History” by cardiologist Sandeep Jauhar. The next meeting of the librarian-hosted book group for adults and teens 16 and older will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 8, via Webex. Participation is free, but registration is required. Instructions for joining the meeting will be sent by email following registration. For more information and to register, visit bit.ly/BookGrps.

Falling leaves, sweeping streets
As the leaves fall, city staff and contractors hit the streets in force to sweep them up. The street sweeping routes and operations are designed to not interfere with trash collection and to ensure that bike lanes are swept as well. It also is standard practice to sweep snow routes following snowfall. Find maps that show the estimated schedule of citywide fall sweeping at LongmontColorado.gov/street-sweeping. Call 303-651-8416 for more information.

Boulder County offers warrant forgiveness program
The Boulder County District Attorney’s Office is offering another “Fresh Start” event. Fresh Start is an innovative “warrant forgiveness” program that provides an opportunity for people with an outstanding warrant to resolve their warrant without being arrested. The program is designed to give those with active warrants stemming from non-violent and low-level misdemeanor or traffic cases an opportunity to move toward a resolution in their case. Individuals with warrants in qualifying cases will speak with representatives from the District Attorney’s Office and either resolve the case or set the case for a new court date. The event will be held at the Boulder County Justice Center and Longmont Courthouse from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Eligibility guidelines are posted on the District Attorney’s website: www.bouldercounty.org/district-attorney/ or call 303-441-3700.
