Twist Out Cancer, a nonprofit organization that is celebrating its 10 year anniversary in 2022, announced today that applications are now available for anyone touched by cancer and artists to take part in the 2022 Brushes With Cancer program in the Midwest.

Brushes with Cancer is a six month program that matches Inspirations (previvors, survivors, and caregivers) with artists, who create a unique piece of artwork that reflects their personal journey with cancer. The individual shares their stories, feelings and experiences with the artist, which serves as the inspiration for the art.  The program concludes with an art exhibit and celebratory event for the participants, their families, and the community.

This Midwestern program based in Chicago, welcomes participants from all over the country and world.  Last year, they had Inspirations and artists connect virtually from eight countries and 27 states. Applications for Inspirations are available here, and artists can apply here.  The deadline is on Monday, February 28. Anyone interested in learning more about the Brushes With Cancer program can attend a virtual information session on Wednesday, February 9, at 11:30 am CST.

You can view all of the artwork created for Inspirations in the last couple of years here.  The following are a few videos with some of our Inspirations and Artists who share their positive experience when they took part in our 2021 Brushes With Cancer programs.
