In a few days, we will be electing our next mayor. All registered voters should now have their ballot either returned or sitting on their counter waiting to be filled out and dropped off at the appropriate drop-off location.

After serving on Longmont City Council for a decade, and as Longmont's mayor for the past four years, I understand the issues, opportunities and pitfalls we face as a community. Without question, the only mayoral candidate able to guide us through the present economic and pandemic climate is Dr. Tim Waters.

Dr. Waters is intelligent, experienced, and an independent thinker. He has a compassionate heart and a clear understanding of economic realities. His priorities are dead on and, unlike Joan Peck, in not beholden to secret groups of political activists and friends.

No other candidate has the moral fortitude or the necessary intelligence to understand the issues and the consequences they bring.

Longmont politics is a mess at present, as a result of the backroom deals, meetings and subvert directives given by "friends" and "social groups" of current city council members. Please, fix it and give Longmont the fresh start we all desperately need.
