Letter to the Editor: Supporting Jeremy Johnson

Jeremy Dejuan Johnson, Candidate for City Council At-Large Seat
I rarely write letters to the media.  However, today I have chosen to write in support of Jeremy Johnson for the city council seat at large for us in Longmont.
We need Jeremy as he is in the mold of leaders in the past who have unselfishly, and with vision, made important decisions to improve our community as we go about living our busy lives.  And he's not in the back pocket of any self-serving interests.
Jeremy is a Longmont businessman and is committed to Longmont and its citizens.  He and his family live, work, and worship amongst us, with his wife Brenda a frontline healthcare worker here.
Recently, there has been much political, racial, and social justice division here and in our country.  Jeremy grew up in the deep south as an African American and he is a Veteran who honorably served in two overseas campaigns in the US Army helping to ultimately preserve our way of life--he put his life on the line for our values.  I guarantee you, when elected, he won't be referred to as "the guy with the sunglasses on" nor will you ever hear divisive pander about skin color-that isn't what he's running on.  He's beyond that as he also worked in the energy sector worldwide for 13 years gaining experience and perspective and the obvious view we are all connected.
What Longmont will get is an extremely capable problem solver whose management style is as a unifier.  I couldn't possibly have had a better neighbor for six years and you'll benefit for having him working on council for YOUR interests!
