Boulder County Resource Conservation Division is hosting a free battery collection event on Thursday, Nov. 15.

Billions of batteries are improperly disposed of each year – making their way to landfills or recycling facilities where they can present harm to environments and people. Batteries in landfills have the potential to leak toxic metals into the waste stream, while batteries processed at a recycling center may cause fires when crushed by machinery.

What: Battery Collection Event

When: Thursday, Nov. 15, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Where: Hazardous Materials Management Facility (HMMF)

1901c 63rd Street, Boulder

Taking batteries to certified drop-off locations not only helps prevent contaminated waste streams and potential fires, it also gives the batteries a second chance at life. In honor of America Recycles Day, the Boulder County Resource Conservation Division is collecting all types of batteries from both residents and businesses at no cost at the Hazardous Materials Management Facility.

Please note there is a 50 pound drop-off limit per visitor, batteries larger than 9-volts require clear tape on positive terminals at drop-off.
