Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Ken Buck announced the beginning of the Congressional Art Competition for the 4th Congressional District of Colorado. Started in 1982, the annual competition draws artistic talent from young artists across the country, offering high school students the opportunity to share their creative talents with the community by submitting an original piece of two-dimensional artwork.
“I encourage all students in the 4th Congressional District to consider creating and submitting artwork for the competition this year,” Congressman Ken Buck stated. “I’m eager to see the incredible pieces of art from around our district and to meet the artists behind the work and hear their stories.”
Submissions will be exhibited at the Douglas County Libraries in Castle Rock from April 9-20. On April 20, Rep. Buck will host an Awards Ceremony and Reception at the library to award a grand prize winner and offer several other recognitions. The grant prize winner will receive scholarship funds to continue his or her art education as well as a round-trip ticket to Washington, D.C. to exhibit the winning artwork and to attend an official reception with the other winning students. The winning artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol for a year.
