Boulder County's Sustainability Office is offering trees to Boulder County residents as part of the EnergySmart program. This program has 400 trees available on a first-come, first-served basis.

"This tree discount program is intended to help you better understand where to plant a tree on your property to achieve maximum shading effects for the most energy savings," states Boulder County.

Each household may reserve one 5-gallon tree. The program ends on October 20, 2018 or when supplies run out.

Trees can be picked up in either Boulder or Longmont and may be purchased by visiting www.ArborDay.org/bouldercounty. An online tool is available to assist participants to "determine where to plant your new tree and estimate the annual energy savings that will result from planting a tree in the most strategic location."

The types of trees being offered include the Bur Oak, Greenspire Linden, Hackberry and Ponderosa Pine.

For more information about the tree purchase program, contact Tyler Kesler at [email protected] or 720-564-2724. For more information about EnergySmart programs, visit www.EnergySmartYES.com or call 303-544-1000.
