Update on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at 10:25am: Cmdr. Joel Post from Longmont Police Department notified the Longmont Observer that the incident has not been ruled as arson. "We are still investigating this fire to determine origin and cause, and to determine if it was intentionally set." A fire was reported around 4:30 a.m. on June 18 at the Target, located at 551 S Hover St, Longmont. When first responders arrived, the store's sprinklers had doused most of the fire.

No employees or first responders were injured by the fire.

Cmdr. Joel Post notified the Longmont Observer that they "are still investigating this fire to determine origin and cause, and to determine if it was intentionally set."

Restoration of the store is underway and the store hopes to reopen soon.

Free Skin Care Classes

Learn how to take care of your skin with free classes offered through Recreation & Golf Services. Natural Grocers will help you Protect Your Skin from the Inside Out from 10 to 11 am on Tuesday, June 26, at Sunset Pool, 1900 Longs Peak Avenue.

Enjoy activities, create an after-sun skin smoother, and take home recipes and fun ideas. Then, from 6 to 7 pm on Monday, July 2, at the Longmont Recreation Center, 310 Quail Road, check up on your skin health at the UCHealth Free Skin Cancer Screening.

Boulder County Clerk to Host Elections Open House / Ballot Processing Tours

The Boulder County Clerk and Recorder Hillary Hall will host an elections open house/ballot processing tour on Thursday, June 21 and Monday, June 25, at the Elections Division Ballot Processing Center.

     When:  Thursday, June 21, Noon – 1:30 p.m. with tours 
                  approximately every 30 minutes

                  Monday, June 25, 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. with tours 
                  approximately every 30 minutes

     Where: 1750 33rd Street in Boulder – Elections Division 
                  Ballot Processing Center (look for signs)

These tours offer people interested in local elections the opportunity to see how ballots are processed, understand how signatures are verified on mail ballots, and learn about how ballot resolution works among other ballot processing procedures and safeguards. Visitors will be able to observe workers processing ballots for the Tuesday, June 26Primary Election. Students are strongly encouraged to attend to learn more about the elections process. Tours take about 30 minutes with questions.
