The Boulder County Commissioners welcome public feedback, questions, and comments on the 2019 Recommended Budget, a preliminary budget document which includes a description of proposed spending packages by fund, elected office, and department, as well as projected revenues for 2019.

A public hearing will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25 in the Commissioners' Hearing Room, 3rd Floor, County Courthouse, 1325 Pearl Street, Boulder. Additionally, written comments may be submitted at any time using the public comment form.

The 2019 Recommended Budget is a baseline budget prepared by the Budget Office to serve as a starting point for the Board of County Commissioners to consider as part of their statutory responsibility to set a balanced budget by Dec. 15.

Additional budget requests, priorities, and adjustments to the recommended budget will be considered by the Board of County Commissioners at their annual budget work session on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

Budget Approval Steps:

  • On Thursday, Oct. 11, the Budget Office presented a recommended budget of $426.5 million for calendar year 2019 to the Board of County Commissioners. (View: Video link to Oct. 11 public meeting -- select Item #9 under “Event Bookmarks.”) The budget presentation included preliminary revenue figures for 2019, many of which will be updated through this fall’s budget process as more detailed projections become available.
  • Public comments may be submitted in writing at any time using the public comment form or made in person at the public hearing scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25.
  • The County Commissioners will consider public input and provide their feedback to the Budget Office at the 2019 Budget Work Session from 12:30 - 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7. At the work session, the county commissioners will provide final funding directives to the Budget Office. The public is invited to attend the work session, but no public testimony will be taken.
  • The final 2019 Boulder County Budget will be adopted at a public meeting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11.
