Snow, cold keep CalWood fire containment at 10,105 acres, 76% containment

Full containment of the fire is expected Saturday, according to information posted on the InciWeb interagency information management system.

A blanket of snow and near-record cold temperatures kept the CalWood fire area at 10,105 acres and the blaze that started Oct. 17 remains 76% contained, authorities stated in a 10 a.m. Tuesday post to the CalWood and Lefthand Canyon Fires Facebook page. “There has been little to no fire activity, with much of the fire under several inches of snow,” according to the post

Firefighters will be patrolling and monitoring the fire today, concentrating on the northwest side along Colo. 7, and crews will continue monitoring the fire in the coming days until it is declared out, according to the post. Some resources will be released from the incident to be available for other assignments, authorities stated.

Full containment of the fire is expected Saturday, according to information posted on the InciWeb interagency information management system.

Temporary closures of Arapaho and Roosevelt national forest lands in Grand, Clear Creek, Jefferson, Gilpin, Boulder, and Larimer counties remain in place, as do the closures of multiple Boulder County Parks and Open Space properties.
