Three St. Vrain Valley schools, Lyons, Hygiene and Longmont Estates elementary schools, are the recipients of the national i-Ready Stretch Growth award.

The i-Ready program incorporates the Growth Model which includes two measurements for students, Typical Growth and Stretch Growth. Typical Growth reflects the annual growth and average student sees in a school year while Stretch Growth shows the progress required for students to be on the path for grade-level proficiency, according to a news release from SVVSD.

In order to qualify for the award, schools must have at least 200 students. At least 55% of those students must reach Stretch Growth in reading. This is determined by the students who are below grade level on their initial i-Ready assessment.

Hygiene students’ scores reached 61%, Lyons’ students scored 58% and Longmont Estates reached 56%.

“Stretch growth is an ambitious goal for individual students. This accomplishment demonstrates the results of the partnership of teachers, students, and families working together to accomplish academic goals in Reading and Mathematics in the core classroom, extended school day, and summer programming. The results exemplify high expectations for each and every student. The achievement results ensure students’ future success in Advanced Placement courses and St. Vrain’s robust focus programs and pathways,” said Ann Reed, executive director on Special Assignment for SVVSD.
