Eight St. Vrain Valley Schools made the College Board AP School Honor Roll. In the past, the distinction went to the school district. This is the first year individual schools are honored.

The Advanced Placement, or AP, Honor Roll recognizes schools with AP programs that deliver wide-reaching results for their students. For schools to make the list they must meet certain criteria such as 40% of the graduating class took one AP exam, 25% must score a 3 or higher on one exam and 2% of the graduating class must take five or more AP exams during high school.

In 2023, 2,808 SVVSD students took 4,784 AP exams. Among those, 704 earned the AP Scholar recognition, which is based on how students scored on all of their AP exams during their high school career. Sixty-three SVVSD students earned an AP Capstone diploma last year. This diploma goes to students who score a 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional AP exams.

The Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

“Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness,” a news release from SVVSD stated.

The eight schools in SVVSD include:

  • Erie High School at Gold level
  • Lyons Middle/Senior High School at Silver level
  • Skyline High School at Bronze level
  • Mead High School at Silver level
  • Niwot High School at Silver level
  • Silver Creek High School at Silver level
  • Twin Peaks Charter Academy High School at Silver level
  • Longmont High School at Bronze level

“This recognition emphasizes our district-wide commitment to the 'AP for All' initiative,” said Chris Gardner, AP Coordinator for St. Vrain Valley Schools. “In St. Vrain, we firmly believe that every student benefits from the rigor and opportunities offered by the Advanced Placement curriculum.”
