Bin 46 Wine Bar & Restaurant is teaming up with Firehouse Art Center to bring new vibrancy to the community art scene this Fall with the kick off of the Longmont Chalk Art Street Fair & Bin Market. The two-day event will take place September 30th– October 1st at the 600 Block of Longs Peak Avenue.

The Chalk Art Street Fair is a free two-day street-painting festival where 25 artists spend hours on their hands and knees over the course of two days turning the streets of Longmont into a vivid canvas of colorful chalk art. The goal of the event is to create a venue for artists, vendors and visitors alike to enjoy live-art, music and local artisan vendors for a fun family weekend.

People will have the additional opportunity to attend a special Pop up Dinner on Saturday evening-- stroll along the street and view the art in progress while enjoying a special food and wine dinner under the stars hosted by Bin 46 Wine Bar & Restaurant. Tickets for Saturday night are $45.00 for General Admission and $125.00 for VIP.

WHAT YOU'LL SEE: Creating these amazing works of art requires more than just scribbling on the sidewalk. First, the artist must draw an outline of the original painting in proper proportion using pencil or a charcoal pastel. Then they begin to lay the base of colors. Using a number of colored pastels, the artist layers the chalk, blending the colors to create shadow, contrast and depth. The art may not last long, but that's sort of the point. Visitors to the Street Fair & Bin Market are given the rare opportunity to watch as an artist transforms a spot of blank asphalt into a beautifully expressive painting.

Live music, food, wine tasting tents and artisan vendors, not to mention a kids' corner where your young ones will get a chance to make some chalk art of their own! Visit www.LongmontChalkArt.com for event and sponsorship information.
