Longmont, CO – Local architecture and development firm F9 Productions has partnered with the Longmont Downtown Development Authority to create a pop-up installation in the 400 West breezeway in Downtown Longmont on Friday, November 10th from 6-8 p.m. The project is aimed at engaging the public and generating ideas for transforming the breezeways into fun, dynamic, multi-use spaces.

The temporary installation will happen as part of Downtown Longmont’s Second Friday event on November 10th from 6-9 p.m. In the 400 West Breezeway (between 4th and 5th Avenues just west of Main St.), F9 will set up five shading modules and will use a brightly colored, angular yarn installation to attract passerby and bring movement and energy to the breezeway space. The shading modules will provide space for artists, activities, entertainment, and vendors, and will allow pedestrians to engage and interact with them.

The working name for the project is “Build a Better Breezeway”, and is inspired by the Better Block Foundation. Since 2010, the Better Block Foundation has been focused on revitalizing neighborhoods and creating pedestrian-friendly installations to engage underused neighborhood spaces. The general public is invited to come enjoy the temporary installations and give their feedback and ideas for future breezeway improvements and transformations.

F9 Productions is a Longmont-based architecture and design firm located in the historic Allen House on the southwest corner of 3rd and Coffman. They have been providing unique and innovative architectural design for the Colorado Front Range and beyond since 2009. Highlighted projects include: ATLAS tiny home (featured on HGTV and currently residing at WeeCasa in Lyons), Strawberry Circle residence in Longmont, and a concept design detailing their vision for Amazon’s second headquarters (HQ2) in Denver.

Second Fridays are monthly night-out events in Downtown Longmont, with many participating businesses hosting art exhibits and openings, live entertainment, sales, specials and promotions. In addition to the events mentioned previously, the November Second Friday “Urban Harvest” event will also feature several unique activities: bicycle-powered hay rides courtesy of Longmont Food Rescue and Simply Bulk Market, dance performances from Production Company Dance Centre, and pumpkin snack bites & pumpkin spice beverage samples from TREAT Snack House, one of the newest members of the Downtown Longmont community.
