LONGMONT, Colo. – Two hundred years ago, four writers sitting around a fire in a Lake Geneva villa engaged in a challenge to write an original horror story. Mary Shelley’s contribution eventually grew into the classic novel, Frankstein. To honor the anniversary of the novel’s publication, the Library is offering two special programs based on Shelley and her book.  On Saturday, March 17, from 10:30 to 11:30, the Library will host a book discussion group around Frankenstein. Whether you’re reading it for the first time or re-reading a cherished favorite, the book group is an opportunity to get to know Frankenstein in more depth and from different perspectives. Later, on Thursday, March 22, from 7 to 8 pm, historical performance artist Susan Marie Frontczak will bring Mary Shelley to life with a monologue about her life and writing, followed by a Q&A session directed at “Mary” and a second Q&A session directed at the scholar playing her.  Join the Library in honoring a classic novel and its fascinating author this March.

Registration is required for both of these programs. Register online at http://bit.ly/LibPrograms.  No email address?  Call (303) 651-8472 to register by phone.
