Longmont EDP Announces Cornerstone Awards Nominees

Longmont, CO: At their 2018 Advance Longmont Economic Development Summit on February 28th, Longmont EDP in partnership with UCHealth – Longs Peak Hospital will host its annual Cornerstone Awards Luncheon. The Longmont Economic Development Partnership will award four Cornerstone Awards to Longmont businesses in recognition of their contributions to the economic health of the community in 2017. This year’s awards will recognize businesses in every sector of the Longmont economy, and will include a Primary Job Creator Award, Project of the Year Award, Rising Star Award, and Startup Award.  New this year, the nominees and award winners in some of the categories were selected by a committee of Advance Longmont Partner organizations that included the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Development Center, TinkerMill, Startup Longmont, and Longmont Downtown Development Authority. 

“The nominees for this year’s Cornerstone Awards show that companies in every sector of the business community are making significant contributions to our economy through job creation, innovation, and capital investment,” noted Longmont EDP President Jessica Erickson. 

The nominees for the 2018 Cornerstone Awards in each category are:

  • Primary Job Creator – BC Services, Continental Control Systems, Malvern Panalytical, and Wiland
  • Project of the Year – Avista Pharma, Front Range Orthopedics, UCHealth – Longs Peak Hospital, and Wild Game
  • Rising Star Award – Goddess Garden, Machining Express, Mobile Canning, and Redstone Aerospace
  • Startup Award – Inhabitech, Longmont Observer, My Web Dev Girl, and Sribworks

 In addition to the Cornerstone Awards, Longmont EDP will also present the 2018 Tom Brock Award. Tom Brock was an economic development pioneer and leader in the Longmont community. The award in his name is presented annually to a local businessperson who fosters the cause of economic development in Longmont.

Winners in each category will be announced at the 2018 Cornerstone Awards Luncheon on February 28th at The Plaza Event and Convention Center in Longmont during the Advance Longmont Economic Development Summit. The full Summit event will run from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., and will feature: 

  • An informative year-in-review presentation by Longmont EDP President, Jessica Erickson;
  • A panel discussion featuring representatives of each of Longmont’s four targeted industries, providing a review of recent developments, our successes in supporting each sector, and where we have room for growth;
  • A regional economic forecast by Patty Silverstein of Development Research Partners and resident economist for the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation;
  • Engaging breakout sessions aligned with the Advance Longmont strategy’s priority areas, including education & workforce development, real estate & infrastructure, and business climate; and
  • High level networking with like-minded business and civic leaders from across the Metro Denver, Boulder County, and Northern Colorado regions

The Cornerstone Luncheon is scheduled from 11:30am-1:00pm.
