Longmont, CO - The Sierra Club has announced its endorsement of five candidates for Longmont City Council on the 2017 ballot: Sarah Levison for Mayor, Polly Christensen and Aren Rodriguez for At Large and Marcia Martin for Ward 2.

Longmont elected officials make vital decisions about local air quality, water quality, parks and open space, wildlife protection and energy generation and consumption, among other issues. Sierra Club endorsements identify candidates who prioritize environmental issues and are likely to take a pro-environment position, if elected.

The Sierra Club Political Committee sent out questionnaires to all candidates and reviewed returned questionnaires as part of the endorsement decision process.  Questionnaires covered topics to help assess the candidate’s overall background and goals on environmental issues, ranging from public transportation, pollinators, fracking, water and commitment to 100% renewable energy for electricity generation.
