The Longmont Symphony Orchestra and the Boulder Ballet are presenting a sensory-friendly version of the holiday favorite The Nutcracker. The Gentle Nutcracker will take place on December 7 from 1-2 p.m.

This performance is an abridged version of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker. Other accommodations include the house lights remaining at 35%, professional support will be easily accessible for questions or problems, involuntary movements and noises are welcome, a designated quiet area will be available for those who need it, and an EMT will be on-site for emergencies.

“An exciting part of our 2019-20 season is that, in addition to our presentation of The Nutcracker with the Boulder Ballet, we’ve made our Gentle Nutcracker, designed for individuals with special needs and their families, into an annual event," said LSO music director Elliot Moore. "This, combined with our robust outreach in schools, 5th Grade Concerts, and January Family Concert—featuring the timeless classic Peter and the Wolf—shows how music can unite the entire spectrum of our community and touch people’s lives.”

This concert is limited to 500 attendees. Tickets are $10 and are on sale via phone (303-772-5796) and online at longmontsymphony.org. Office hours are 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays; 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
