I do not support raising Longmont's city sales tax for an ice rink/pool complex (ballot issue 3B). The complex will serve a small minority of our community. If 3B passes, residents will have to pay a portion of the tax in perpetuity for operating and maintenance costs. I also do not want to lose my right as a taxpayer to vote on the city street tax extension. I do not like the idea of indefinitely extending this tax as proposed in ballot issue 3C. The street tax is supposed to sunset in 2026. Voters should be allowed to vote on the tax in six years. I also do not support changing our city charter to allow leases of city property for up to 30 years. Ballot
issue 3D will change the duration of leases from 20 years to 30 years. Twenty years is long enough. The amendment to the city charter is not necessary. VOTE NO on 3B, 3C, and 3D!
