On July 23, 2020, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office issued a media release seeking information involving a possible identification of the skeletal remains of a man, who officers are calling John Doe, in December 2018 near Fort Lupton.

The decedent was a Caucasain male, aged 45- to 65-years-old, height anywhere between 5’6” to 6’. Doe’s skeletal remains were found several yards from the South Platte River near U.S. 85 and Colo. 52.

According to the report from the Weld County Sheriff's Office, Doe was wearing a Colorado Division of Water Resources shirt at the time of his death. Weld County Cold Case Detective Byron Kastilhan said this did not prove to be a lead in the case of Doe's identity. The Colorado Division of Water Resources found that all current and former employees were accounted for.

An artistic reconstruction of Doe's face was completed using the skeletal remains.

Anyone who thinks they might know this John Doe is asked to call Detective Dayle Rosebrock at (970) 400-2889 or Cold Case Detective Byron Kastilahn at (970) 400-2827 or Chief Deputy Coroner Joey Weiner at (970) 400-4990.

Correction: The word shirt was missing from a sentence.
