On Sunday evening, the Longmont Police Department was dispatched to the 1000 block of Coffman Street for a welfare check of an adult female. Later the welfare check turned into a domestic incident.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., police arrived on the scene where a woman appeared to have been assaulted. Officers attempted to make contact with both the woman and a male suspect who accompanied her.

The male suspect refused to comply with the police’s efforts and he attempted to evade police by walking away from them and hiding in the nearby area, according to the police report.

Police used a taser to safely apprehend the man, who was later found to be a convicted felon. At the time of the incident, the suspect was in possession of a stolen handgun and illegal narcotics. Police arrested and transported him to the Boulder County Jail.

Police issued the female suspect a summons for narcotics-related offenses.
