A Longmont man was arrested today for processing and distributing child sexual abuse material on a social messaging platform.
The Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, or ICAC, began a investigation into Benito Chavez-Perez, 40, after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted the organization that child sexual abuse material was being distributed, according to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office.
ICAC executed a search warrant on Sept. 21 at Chavez-Perez's home in Longmont. The search revealed additional evidence, the news release stated.
Chavez-Perez was booked into Boulder County Jail on Oct. 1 where he is being held without bond. The charges currently against him include Sexual exploitation of a child-possession with intent to distribute, a Class 3 Felony, and two counts of Sexual exploitation of a child possession, one Class 4 Felony and one Class 5 Felony.
