A Longmont man was seriously beaten after he urinated in a public park.

The defendant, in this case, was in the park with his daughter when he saw the victim walk to a bend near a gazebo in Lanyon Park on Jan. 26.

The victim was captured on video zipping his pants up and walking down a path, according to a news release from the Boulder County District Attorney's Office.

The defendant punched the victim in the head and face, repeatedly, knocking the victim unconscious, the news release states. The victim was seriously injured, according to the statement.

The defendant later told police that "he observed the victim masturbating while looking at the defendant's young daughter," the release states. After studying the video footage, police determined the victim remained looking at the ground while urinating.

The defendant has been charged with second-degree assault and is out on bond. His preliminary hearing is set for March 6.
