A man faces kidnapping charges after he grabbed and assaulted a woman in Longmont, police said.

Officers were called to the 1500 block of Main Street just before 11 p.m. Wednesday after they received a report of a possible burglary, according to Robin Ericson, spokesperson for the Longmont Police Department.

A woman received permission from the building’s landlord to retrieve her belongings from inside a room where she had formerly stayed, Ericson said.

While the woman was trying to get inside the room, a man pushed her and dragged her by her hood outside the building and then dropped her, Ericson said.

The woman then ran back into the apartment building and tried to lock the door to keep him out, but he came in and threw her purse into the street, according to Ericson.

The woman wasn’t injured in the attack but her hoodie was torn down the middle from the collar, police said.

The man and woman knew each other, according to Ericson.

The man was arrested and he faces kidnapping charges.
