FILE PHOTO: Police were called to the incident.

On Monday, a person dressed in bulky green or brown checkered jacket broke into Las Americas Tortilleria and stole food from the shelf.

Officers responded to an alarm at Las Americas Tortilleria — located at 830 Lashley St. — where they found the bottom glass of the front door shattered, according to Robin Ericson, communications and marketing manager for Longmont Public Safety.

When Longmont Police Officers arrived, no one was in the shop. Officers found video footage of a person breaking into the store with a tool, taking food from a shelf directly in front of the entrance and placing it into a trash bag.

The suspect was wearing a bulky jacket with a black hood over the suspect’s head and a mask disguising the suspect’s face.

The video indicated the suspect left through the broken door and ran westbound.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to please contact the Longmont Police Department at 303-651-8555.
