The Longmont Police Department is still looking for the suspects who attempted to steal an ATM machine over the weekend.
Around 5:41 a.m. on Sunday morning, officers were called to a local bank located in the 2600 block of Main Street, according to a Longmont police report.
Prior to LPD’s arrival, two males were believed to be trying to break into the ATM and security services had received a seismic alarm — an alarm which tracks seismic activity, or the compression wave of an earthquake — which indicated a disruption to the machine.
When the police arrived they found an abandoned car but its occupants had fled. Police believe the vehicle is part of an unreported automobile theft. Following the incident, the vehicle was towed to the Longmont Police Department tow yard to be processed.
The ATM, which contained an unknown amount of money, had significant damage from the suspects but police confirmed that the safe had remained locked throughout the incident.
