Longmont Police Officers responded to three shots being fired early Sunday morning.

A witness reported to police that they saw three muzzle flashes and heard three gunshots around 2:24 a.m. on Sunday morning in the area of South Oak Court and Quebec Avenue. The witness also stated they saw a white Acura sedan leave the area, according to Robin Ericson, spokesperson for LPD.

The driver of the Acura later returned to the area, where a police officer witnessed the Acura "actively turning around at the end of the road to come westbound with its lights off," Ericson said via email.

A second vehicle, a Dodge Neon, joined the Acura, pulling up alongside it — driver's door to driver's door.

The officer pulled up behind the Dodge Neon and turned on the vehicle's emergency lights, according to Ericson. The Dodge Neon remained in place while the Acura drove off without its headlights on.

The Acura was found heading north on Main Street where a second officer witnessed the car without its headlights on. The second officer pursued the Acura, which turned onto Ken Pratt Boulevard and later stopped on Martin Street.

The driver of the Acura — a male under 18 years old — was arrested. Officers discovered multiple open alcoholic beverage containers and an empty handgun holster in the car.

The driver of the Dodge Neon was released.
