A teenager was sentenced Friday to nine months of work release after a Boulder crash that left two people dead and another seriously injured.

The driver, who was charged as a juvenile, pleaded guilty in December to vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, driving under the influence and other charges in the crash, which killed Gregoria Morales Ramirez, 49, and Ori Tsioni, 33, the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office said.

The teenager, who was 17 at the time, was driving a truck on April 9, 2022, south in the north lanes of Foothills Parkway when she struck a car head-on, according to Colorado State Patrol.

Ramirez and Tsioni were in the car and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Their car was rear-ended by another vehicle — the driver of that car, Diana Spencer, 65, of Longmont, was seriously injured, the DA’s office said.

The teenager, who cannot be named because she’s a juvenile, was driving after a party on prom night, investigators said.

Three businesses and five parents face charges in connection with the deadly crash. They are accused of providing alcohol to teenagers. Their cases are pending.

“We asked for straight jail time plus four years of probation because this juvenile killed two people. But there were adults who bear responsibility, as well," said Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty.

"That’s why we took the investigation to the Grand Jury and secured 9 indictments. The juvenile offender made decisions that resulted in two people being killed.  But make no mistake about it – there were adults who had every opportunity to prevent this tragedy.  If there is any good that can come of this crash, it would be for our community to eliminate driving under the influence.  Until that happens, our office will continue to fight to hold offenders responsible.”
