A Longmont resident notified the Longmont Police Department that a silver Toyota 4Runner was speeding, running red lights, dragging its bumper and one of the vehicle's tires was blown out. The complaint led to an arrest.

On Wednesday, the Toyota was seen in the area of 17th Avenue and Hover Street. A Longmont police officer spotted the car turning eastbound onto Second Avenue before turning southbound onto South Pratt Parkway. The car had no passenger side rear tire — which was leaving abrasions on the street — and the rear passenger side bumper was hanging off.

The officer turned on his emergency lights and sirens for about 0.2 miles before the vehicle pulled over. After pulling over, the vehicle drove away at a high speed. The officer lost sight of the vehicle, but was able to use his license plate number to find the registered address per Longmont Police pursuit’s policy.

As the officer drove to the registered address, they received calls from dispatch that the SUV was striking other vehicles while it was southbound on South Main Street.

The suspect, a 42-year-old male and Longmont resident, was taken into custody without incident. After the suspect was medically cleared from the hospital, he was transported to the Boulder County Jail for DUI.
